A Question of Zen

What is the sound of one hand clapping?
When you have the answer,
come back for your next lesson
said the Zen master sagely.

I went back and began to clap with one hand
I clapped and I clapped
until my left hand went numb.

I went back to the master and gave him the answer:
The sound of one hand clapping is …
the screaming pain of repetitive strain injury.

And the wise man smiled.
